Hi Friends,
Since we last wrote, we have been formally welcomed into Wec’s Neighbors Worldwide. NW has been set up for Wec’s home-end missionaries to continue their missionary work and reach the unreached at home. We have been privileged to join and support an Asian community in the Greenville area of South Carolina. There are around 2.43% of Asian people including Chinese, Pakistani’s and Indians from all faiths. We have in our church converts from Jane, Hindu and Muslim. It was fun to be singing in Hindi and to meet a young girl from Portuguese background. Her parents were from Goa. We also met a girl from the Mizo people of North-Eastern India. This people group are of Tibeto-Burman origin. The fun thing is we get to eat Indian food at the end. Suseela, the pastor’s wife makes Indian food for us all.
We felt that coming back here was God’s plan to allow us a slightly slower pace of life but that thought was very quickly dispelled. After our sabbatical in Georgia, it was straight to work and we are not complaining. We are not the type to sit around watching the daisies grow. We consider ourselves blessed to have strength and health at our age and we live to see lives transformed and the Kingdom come to earth. God gives us many opportunities to pray for people in stores, at church, shopping malls and just about anywhere we find ourselves, and we are seeing lives changed. Thanks to Jesus!
We have just finished our training with ‘Studio’ small group leadership training. Studio, as a church will be launched officially on January 16th. The small groups will begin shortly after. We hope to see neighbours and friends that have not yet met with Jesus, feel welcomed into the groups.
One huge change for us as Weccers is funding. Wec UK has had to make some big changes to its “financial status” and has had to become an employer. After the 31st of December 2021, we will no longer receive the donations that you give to us through Wec UK. This responsibility is now with each individual Weccer and all of us have had to apply to Stewardship.org.uk. Stewardship has set a support threshold that is dependent on ministry, location, living and ministry expenses. If you wish to know how much we need to raise, please write to us. After months of research, a decision has been taken by the board of trustees that all Wec Uk/Ireland members will adopt an employment status called ‘Voluntary Worker’. The decision means that Wec will become an employer of voluntary workers taking on employer responsibilities but without paying salaries (your faithful donations have been our salary). However, any persons still wishing to support us or to begin supporting us will be able to continue or begin to do so through our Stewardship account. Please see attached letters. Please pray for British Weccers that they won’t be left without adequate support. I have attached our account number and details. Stewardship has been in existence since 1906. We still believe in our faith principle, but we live in the reality that it’s God’s people that support those in ministry. There is also a facility in Stewardship to give anonymously.
Please read the attachments right through to the end if possible. As of this year-end, our support has dwindled. Our main support in the UK stopped a year ago and others are also going to be winding up next year. And so it is, that we make an appeal to you that if you can begin to support us, or can continue to do so, we would appreciate your help and generosity. If you have any questions, please contact us. We would be happy to help you understand what this means for us.
With our love,
Linda and Chris
